Terms of Service

Last updated: April 3, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Sekretly ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time, and continued use constitutes acceptance of any changes.

2. Description of Service

Sekretly is a secure digital vault that allows users to store encrypted secrets and define conditions for releasing them to designated recipients. The Service uses zero-knowledge, client-side encryption — meaning your secrets are encrypted on your device before being transmitted to our servers.

3. Beta Status

The Service is currently in beta. Features may change, be removed, or experience downtime without prior notice. While we strive for reliability, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability during this period.

4. User Accounts

You must create an account to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Authentication is managed through our third-party provider, Clerk. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

5. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Not use the Service to store or transmit content that is illegal, threatening, harassing, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Securely share recipient passwords through channels outside of the Service, as we do not transmit decryption passwords.
  • Understand that if you lose your vault password or recipient passwords, your encrypted data cannot be recovered — by you or by us.

6. Zero-Knowledge Encryption

All secrets are encrypted client-side using AES-256-GCM before reaching our servers. We do not have access to your encryption keys or plaintext data. This means we cannot recover your secrets if you lose your passwords, and we cannot comply with requests to disclose the contents of your secrets — because we are technically unable to do so.

7. Triggers and Secret Release

You may configure triggers (inactivity timers or specific dates) that determine when your secrets are released to recipients. It is your responsibility to configure triggers accurately and to maintain your check-in schedule if using inactivity-based triggers. We will make reasonable efforts to deliver notifications, but cannot guarantee delivery due to factors outside our control (e.g., email filtering).

8. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sekretly shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or inability to access secrets due to lost passwords or service interruption.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these terms or for any reason at our discretion. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your encrypted data will be deleted from our servers within a reasonable timeframe.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles.
